Discovery Bedu Camp is situated at a particularly scenic viewpoint in Wadi Rum overlooking the golden sands. The camp is run by local Bedouins and is the flagship for more luxury camps in Jordan. The camp supports six tented suites all with en suite bathrooms and full amenities, a tented kitchen, and a dining tent.
The central tent serves as a lobby, dinner venue, and place for evening gatherings. It was handmade by the Bedouins from the hair of their goats and is furnished with comfortable, low Bedouin-style seating. The kitchen serves authentic, Arabic cuisine that can be enjoyed either inside the tent or al fresco under the stars. Breakfast is served on a sandstone hill next to the camp overlooking the stunning landscape and mountains. Dietary options are available upon request.
The six, tented suites boast amazing views of the sunset, sand dunes, and mountains. They are identical in size, style, and amenities. Each suite has a private deck, sitting area, luggage space, and a hanging closet. Four of the suites have a king bed. Two of the suites are equipped with twin beds that can be converted into a king bed upon request. An extra bed can be added to accommodate a child. The en suite bathroom is equipped with a rain shower, copper wash basin, and private flushable toilet.
The main source of power for the camp is solar. Ambient oil lanterns and candles are available if you wish to create a romantic atmosphere. Water is transported from a borehole and is very safe. Bottled water is also provided throughout your stay. Note - there is very little GSM reception in the camp. As the camp is guarded 24 hours, it is generally very safe.
The camp is open year round. During the summer, we recommend comfortable-casual clothes, long and short sleeves, comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, sunglasses, and sun protection cream. In the winter, we recommend warm cloths with long sleeves, trousers, and a warm jacket.
Summer is hot and dry (July and August).
Autumn is milder (September thru November).
Winter is generally dry and cold especially at night (December thru February).
Spring is pleasant during the day yet can be chilly during the nights (March thru June).
